42.2 km through Cork city.
About 75 m of climbing and 75 m of descent. One of the flatter marathons in our predictor.
Mostly flat with a few short rises. A good course for a personal best.
Around 16°C and 70% humidity on race day in late May or early June. Warmer than Dublin in October.
With little climbing, the main things that decide your time in Cork are pacing and heat, not hills.
Pacing. Cork is one of the flatter marathons in Ireland, so even pacing works: aim for kilometre splits within a few seconds of each other. If it’s warm, start a little slower and use the predictor’s weather adjustment to set a realistic target.
Fuelling. Most marathon runners aim for 60–75 g of carbohydrate per hour, and more if they have practised it in training. In warm weather, fluid and sodium matter more. The predictor’s emailed report and the fuelling calculator give you a gel timeline by kilometre.
