Marc Bennett started triathlon in 2013 and, like most people, began with sprint and Olympic-distance races. He was largely self-coached, with the help of Belpark TC.
In 2016 he started training for his first IRONMAN, and he has completed at least one full IRONMAN every year since, with the exception of 2020 because of COVID. He has always done the sport for enjoyment, but that is not to say he hasn’t trained hard – he has put in a lot of hours.
In 2024 Marc met Tiago, and the two chatted for a long time. He really liked Tiago’s approach to training, so he decided to take him on as his coach. For Marc, the best thing about having a coach is having his sessions planned out for him and someone to answer any questions he might have. Since then he has set personal bests at almost every race distance he has taken part in, even knocking 1 hour 3 minutes off his IRONMAN PB.
His proudest achievement is completing all 11 IRONMANs he has entered. There have been some really difficult times when he wanted to give up, but he has always found the strength to fight on.
