About

Who they are

A mother of two, Andrea comes from a camogie background, with a range of other sports played at different times along the way. She decided to give triathlon a go a little later in life and was quickly hooked. She enjoys the way the sport combines different disciplines, which keeps it interesting, and she loves the buzz of racing and pushing herself as hard as she can.

The journey

Their story

Andrea started with Belpark’s New-to-Tri programme in April 2022 and was hooked straight away. A broken thumb from playing tag rugby limited her racing in that first season, but in 2023 she raced as often as she could, and that experience really helped her to improve. She loved meeting other members and watching the top performers in awe, and found everyone helpful and welcoming.

To take her performance to the next level, Andrea started working with her first coach, Tiago, at Endurance Lab. Working full time, she found that having a coach took the thinking out of what to do. The sessions slowly built her engine, and she started to see the results on race day.

Her proudest achievement so far is the Jailbreak Standard – her first ever triathlon podium, earned in tough conditions. She is also very proud of her first sprint podium, a race in which she felt strong and finished not far behind the top two.

Keep racing and keep achieving.
